Craig Cline

About

Craig Cline is an architect, engineer, and multidisciplinary artist whose career spans five decades of boundary-pushing work across architecture, technology, and the arts. A 1975 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a degree in Architecture, Craig also studied at the prestigious École d’Art Américaine in Fontainebleau, France, in 1974, an experience that honed his eye for detail, composition, and classical form.

Over the years, Craig has worked with major corporate clients including AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, FedEx, and The Weather Channel, contributing to forward-thinking design and technology initiatives. In the 1990s, he became an early pioneer in public-facing tech by designing and deploying custom computer kiosks, blending utility, storytelling, and aesthetics into interactive media environments.

Beyond architecture, Craig is a lifelong builder and maker. He’s restored classic street rods, built custom jukeboxes, and painted award-winning landscapes. His work is guided by a deep respect for craftsmanship and a reverence for history, evident in his Forebears Project, which preserves family legacy through curated multimedia stored in physical 'arks.'

Having served on the Board as a commissioner on Asheville's Historic Resources Commission, and The Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County,  he specializing in adaptive reuse, Craig has stabilized and renovated numerous historic buildings including the Tom Wolfe Cabin, breathing new life into old structures while maintaining their character. His newest project, QM Query Modulation, a middleware adaptation, explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, thermodynamics, and human survival through six vector structured reasoning.

He lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina with his wife Dr. Elizabeth Ward, an epidemiologist , where he continues to build, both with his hands and with his ideas.
